Major Features

"Normal" Mode

Developing instructor specific training exercises is done using the easy to use "Normal" mode.  The exercises are developed using time intervals between events such as target movements. Targets stay in their assigned position(up or down) until actively moved to the alternate position.  The instructor decides on how much time elapses between events and which targets move. Each target is controlled independently and can be changed in 0.01 second increments.

At the range, drills can be easily modified to accommodate any refinements or class adjustment. Of course, use of "looping", "delay start", and "scaling" are available to modify any drill without having to create a new drill.

Activation of drills is done either with mouse control, use of <Alt> hot-key combinations, or use of the optional hand-held remote control available in "Scenario Management".

Random Mode

The random features allow the instructor to test the student in a way that avoids "doping out" the exercise. Too often, after repeating the same training exercise, the student will learn the sequence of exposed targets and begin anticipating the next target to be exposed.

The random features overcome this by providing exercises that even the instructor cannot completely anticipate. Controls are provided to allow the instructor to set the level of complexity, difficulty and targets exposed. The randomness of the target movements are controlled by

  • Min/Max time a target is UP
  • Min/Max time a target is DOWN
  • Number of targets that can be up at the same time (available in "Detailed Random" only)
  • Which targets to be included in the exercise

"Detailed Random"
This feature allows the instructor to determine how many targets will appear at the same time, the minimum and maximum time exposed and the minimum and maximum time they will be down. Any number of targets from 1-48 may appear simultaneously. The instructor may exclude certain targets from the drill.

"Beast of the Earth"
This is a true random exercise. The instructor determines which targets may be activated. the minimum and maximum time any given target may be exposed and the minimum and maximum time any given target will be down. During this drill, each target operates independently. This is a very challenging exercise which probably best represents a "shoot out" exercise with unknown number of assailants appearing for random times.

Scenario Management Mode

The “Scenario Management” feature allows the user to configure a series of drills in a logical Scenario.  The use of Scenarios could correspond to a specific exercise, such as “Basic Mandate” or “Advanced Shotgun”, as an example.  It could also be used to organize each day for a particular class, such as “Basic Handgun – Day 1 AM”.  Whatever the organization, the flexibility allows for any combination of existing exercise.  The “Scenario” may consist of any combination of drills from the “Normal”, “Detailed Random”, or “Beast of the Earth” features.  Exercises within in the Scenario may be have their own delay start times, and scaling options.  This allows for complete flexibility when using a basic drill in many different Scenarios without altering the basic sequence or target movement.  The basic Scenario Management feature can be controlled with a minimum of key-strokes once the Scenario is established.  The range officer can step through each, activate the drill, face or reposition targets, and advance to the next drill all with single key-strokes.
